Colour Code -Teach Exec. and Orientation’s First Resource

The Concurrent Education Orientation Executive Team has commenced its learning initiative as a team in their continued journey to educate themselves on anti-blackness, racism and oppression faced by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) in Canada specifically. In the upcoming months, they will be posting additional resources recommended by the Orientation Leaders.
Colour Code, is a podcast about race in Canada by Denise Balkissoon and Hannah Sung. Specifically, Episode 6 entitled “Eggshells”, discusses the concept of white fragility in Canada. The term White Fragility is first coined in an essay by Robin J. DiAngelo, when White folk experience discomfort and defensiveness when people of colour discuss racism.
The Concurrent Education Orientation Executive Team will be continuing to post resources that they as an executive team along with their orientation leaders are personally engaging with. They acknowledge this is just the start and they will continue to engage and interact with resources on their continued journey and commitment to educating themselves and the greater Queen’s community.
