Women in Science and Engineering (WISE)

Established in 1990, Queen’s University’s Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) is a student-run organization committed to promoting and advocating for the involvement of cis and trans women, non-binary, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse individuals in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Our mission has always been to inspire, educate and collaborate to promote and accelerate diversity in STEM industries.  Throughout the years, WiSE has become a large presence both on campus and in the Kingston community. From encouraging the next generation of women through our community outreach to providing impactful mentorship opportunities for undergraduate students, WiSE aims to support women who are changing the world through their careers as scientists, engineers, innovators and leaders. We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive and encouraging space for women to share their experiences and support one another. Through our initiatives, we hope to cultivate curiosity in young women and provide them with the tools to explore the possibilities of a STEM education or career. WiSE operates on three main pillars: Inspiring the next generation of women to pursue STEM, educating our community on the importance of diversifying and uplifting minority voices in the STEM industry and encouraging collaboration and creating strong connections amongst like-minded women studying and pursuing careers in STEM.
