Tree of Life is here!

Our Community Affairs Commissioners bring you this yearly opportunity to brighten someone’s holidays! This is a great opportunity to give a gift to a child in the Kingston community who may not otherwise receive any presents this upcoming holiday season.

To sign up, visit the Con-Ed office from November 16th to December 2nd. Gifts should be unwrapped and clearly labeled with the child’s name, returned to the Con-Ed office by December 2nd at 3:30pm.

We invite you to join us on Saturday, November 26 at 1:00pm in front of Stauffer Library if you’d like to go shopping downtown with us!

Volunteer Opportunities!

Looking for a chance to help out in a big way? Our Community Affairs Commissioners have compiled a great list of local volunteer opportunities! Check them out under the Volunteer Opportunities tab, right here!

Join the Volunteer Initiatives Committee Today!

Want to be more involved in Con-ed but aren’t sure how?

Don’t have a lot of time to volunteer? Or do you have lots?

Have great ideas but don’t know how to put them into action? Are you a person of action but have no idea what to do?

WE WANT YOU!!

The Volunteer Initiatives Committee (VIC) is a fantastic way to get involved in the Con-ed Community! VIC is a dedicated and fun group of Con-eddies who meet twice a month to plan SUPER AWESOME events to raise money/raise awareness/volunteer for really great causes!

And the best part about the committee this year? Just like a delicious buffet, you get to choose exacly what you want from the committee and how much you want! You get to choose if you want to help out at all events, or just a sprinkling of them. You get to choose if you want to be the leader of a certain project, or if you would just like to lend a hand! IT’S UP TO YOU!

The application can be found here. Applications for the committee are due Wednesday October 12th 2011 at 4pm to the Community Affairs Commissioners email, cesacommunityaffairs@gmail.com! And don’t worry-everyone who applies to the committee will be accepted (its more just a get-to-know-you application!)

-Katie Skyvington and Nicole Gouveia

PS. Feel free to invite your friends, housemates, etc who aren’t in Con-ed to join us! : )

Contribute!

Have you ever wondered how you can help contribute to Con Ed and the Kingston community?

The B.Ed Spread needs anyone with a camera or a pen to help us out! If any of you have pictures or would like to write an article about the Back-to-School Smoker, the Pancake Breakfast or Con-Ed Camp, or just about your love for Con-Ed in general, please send submissions to thebedspread@gmail.com by Wednesday, October 5th.

Thanks!

Do you like to volunteer? Would you like to help out the Queen’s and Kingston communities? Then do we have the committee for you: the Volunteer Initiatives Committee (VIC). Our vision for the committee this year is to have a group of dedicated Con-eddies who are interested in helping out to make Queen’s, the Kingston community and the global community a better place! The committee is built around the idea that we all have amazing ideas for initiatives that can better people’s lives and as your Community Affairs Commissioners we want to hear them! We want our projects to be based on your ideas, to be run by you for the benefit of the community! We plan on having short meetings (twice a month maximum) as an entire committee and then smaller subcommittee meetings to work on individual projects! If you are interested in getting more information on VIC, come out to our information night Monday October 3rd in Douglas Library, Room 405 at 7:30pm! Hope to see you there!

If you need any more information feel free to contact us at cesacommunityaffairs@gmail.com.
