Nicole Gouveia

Nickname(s): None…I’m just Nicole

Hometown: Ottawa!

Favourite First Year Course: I couldn’t pick just one… ARTH 120, SPAN 010* and SPAN 112*, PROF 110

Favourite thing about Con-Ed: the love!, the booty shakes, the dancing, the intramurals, Bewic Sports Days, the awesome people who are in Con-Ed, and the endless energy and spirit that makes our faculty so incredible

Favourite thing about Teach Exec: They are all so kind and genuinely friendly. And funny :P They care so much about Con-Ed and making Frosh Week as amazing as possible. Keepin’ it KL^SS-y!!

Personal spotlight: Next year I’m the newsletter editor (or newsleditor) for CESA (Concurrent Education Students Association). This year I was a Student Constable and volunteered with Kaleidoscope.

Words of wisdom for the

Frosh of 2014: Be excited and get involved! Whether it is a club, part time job, volunteering, math study group… it doesn’t matter. Put yourself out there and you’ll have a blast. Check the Alma Mater Society web site early if you plan on volunteering or getting a part time job, many people miss the deadlines. Your first year will fly by so make sure to catch the moments. Schedule time for sleep, homework and chilling. Bring rain boots- it rains often in Kingston. Read, read, read. Even though it’s a cliché- do your best and be sure to have fun.

Peter Low

Nickname(s): Pete, P-Low

Hometown: Mississauga, Ontario.

Favourite First Year Course: Sleeping in. It’s challenging to do effectively. But in all seriousness it is MUSC 127. Dr. Tormann will brighten your day. No matter what.

Favourite thing about Teach Exec: Their dedication to Frosh Week! They are so enthusiastic and are working their butts off to make this year’s Frosh Week the best it can be.

Favourite thing about Con-Ed: The love! Everyone is so friendly and considerate. Like when I overslept to catch the bus to Camp, I was expecting to get yelled at, but everyone was so nice about it. Also, because it is a small faculty, you really get to know a lot of people well.

Personal spotlight: I like music. A lot. I play the trumpet (it’s why I’m here), I like to sing, play the piano and noodle around on the guitar. Otherwise I like to go fast. I love snowboarding, mountain biking, windsurfing and golf. Okay golf isn’t fast, but the ball goes fast, like the time when one decided to make contact with my cranium. It explains a lot. I also love dressing up in ridiculous costumes. I can’t dance well at all, but I can shake my booty like there’s no tomorrow (you learn quickly)! I thoroughly enjoy life at Queen’s, Con-Ed and in Kingston, and I am looking forward to meeting the Frosh of 14!

Words of wisdom for the Frosh of 2014: Set two alarms (see above). Take every chance you get to try something new, you won’t regret it! Go to Con-Ed events and meet upper years, they  can tell you all about their experiences in the program. If you have questions about ANYTHING, don’t be afraid to ask! Most importantly, be yourself and have fun! Also, try not to eat only pizza at Leonard daily…easier said than done.

Allie Tzimas

Your nickname(s): Allie, Al, Zeems, Mom

Hometown: Richmond Hill, ON

Favourite First Year Course: GEOL 107: History of Life and HIST 124: Canadian History

Favourite thing about Teach Exec: They are so approachable, hard working and nice. Not to mention these lovely ladies are ridiculously good looking!

Favourite thing about Con-Ed: All the love! The Concurrent Education is more than just a faculty, it’s a family of the most genuine, hilarious and fun people you will ever meet!

Words of wisdom for the Frosh of 2014: Take risks! First year is all about finding out what you like, so don’t be afraid to try new things and get involved in activities both in and out of Con-Ed!  Case in Point: In my first year, I ended up in a geology class which I thought I wouldn’t enjoy, but it ended up being my favourite class!

Personal spotlight: Drama is my passion in life and as much as I am enjoying the university experience I can’t wait to actually become a drama teacher in the very near future! I have an odd obsession with chocolate and cottage cheese (not together of course).  I am a firm believer in positive thinking and you will always find or hear me laughing or singing; my voice tends to echo!  I love meeting new people and I am so excited to meet all you froshies next year! Get ready to have the best week of your life!

Lucy Vorobej

Nickname(s): Luce,  Lookie

Hometown: Dundas Ontario

Favourite First Year Course: GPHY101, any class where a prof puts on a monkey mask is good in my books.

Favourite thing about Con-ed: all the CON-ED LOVE. Plus where else can you get so much booty shakin’ and B.ed jokes

Favourite thing about Teach Exec: How completely awesome they are! They worked their butts off to make sure that everyone has a fantastic frosh week. They are really approachable and you can go to them if you need anything. All the teaches love the exec SOOOOO Much

Personal Spotlight: I’m in I/S teachable are History and French. I love listening to music, dancing and chilling by the lake. Fun fact, I’ve actually eaten whale blubber.

Words of Wisdom for the Frosh of 2014: Get involved! It’s one of the best way to meet new people and integrate yourself into the Queens Community. Queen’s has so many ways to get involve everyone is sure to find something to get into. CESA (kinda like con-ed student council) has lots of opportunities to get involved with the faculty too! Also rest up for voices for all the cheering in Frosh Week
