Nickname(s): Steph, Stoffny

Hometown: Brantford

Favourite First Year Course: Tied between ENGL 110 and DRAM 100.

Personal spotlight: I love to play piano, and I used to teach piano lessons which made me realize that teaching is AWESOME! I was sooo close to taking Con-Ed at Laurier Brantford and made a last minute choice to go to Queen’s and it was the best decision of my life!!!!

Words of wisdom for the Frosh of 2014: PARTICIPATE IN EVERYTHING during Frosh week, and don’t be afraid to look silly. It will make your time 5635678999 times better!!!

Favourite thing about Teach Exec: The four lovely ladies of Teach Exec are so very friendly, approachable, fun, funny, extremely good looking, and just overall amazing! They are just so great that I don’t think that I could pick one favourite thing J

Favourite thing about Con-Ed: Con-Ed is like a big family, I absolutely love it! Since it’s such a small faculty it’s really easy to get to know a lot of people. Even if you don’t really know someone that well but you know they are in con-ed, it’s so easy just to go up to them and say hi because everyone is amazingly friendly! Oh and con-eddies are the only people who truly know how to properly shake their booties.

Favourite First Year Course: DRAM 100

Favourite thing about Teach Exec: They are so awesome and nice, and are working hard to make frosh week the best week ever! They are really dedicated and fun people and love Con-ed.

Favourite thing about Con-Ed: We are so much fun! I loved frosh week and it just keeps getting better! I loved Con-Ed skating and other times we got together during the year. It is a small faculty so everyone gets to know each other well, and we have a lot of Con-Ed spirit, and the most awesome cheers!

Personal spotlight: I am taking English and Drama, and love Con-ed! I also love QDC (Queen’s Dance Club), horseback riding, and the shows Heartland and Gilmore Girls. When I went to Spain with my high school a monkey jumped on my head, and I have a cat named Oliver after the movie “Oliver and Company,” and he weighs over 20 pounds. I used to love Curious George, The Magic School Bus, and Arthur, and still love the “Lizzie McGuire Movie.” I laugh really easily and am so excited to see everyone during frosh week!

Words of wisdom for Frosh of 2014: Just be yourself, and get involved! Queen’s and Con-ed are so much fun and have a lot to offer, and be excited for your first year at Queen’s, it is so special!

Nickname(s): Tia. Please call me Tia :)

Hometown: Bowmanville. We have a zoo. That’s all. Yup.

Favourite First Year Course: GRMN101. Hands down. So Spaß!

Favourite thing about Con-Ed: Unreal people. Beautiful people. Everyone is unbelievably kind. Everyone loves you. They don’t know you, but you’re in Con-Ed… so they love you. This faculty warms my heart.

Words of wisdom for the Frosh of 2014: DO EVERYTHING. There are so many opportunities about to fly your way and please, please, PLEASE embrace them!!!! It’s overwhelming and sometimes intimidating, which makes it easy to dismiss some of these opportunities or put off doing things… but don’t! You will kick yourself in the head. DO IT. GO. TRY OUT. SIGN UP. AUDITION.

Personal spotlight: I’m a dancer. I love to be onstage. LOVE. I have a strange, completely unfounded obsession with Egypt. I want to be a Disney princess. Life-long dream. I’ll prevail. I love karaoke, all-dressed stuff, sweatpants, coffee and tea. Also, I’m one of the last known Survivor fans. All twenty seasons. Boo friggen ya. Outwit, outplay, outlast — motto for life! I’m not a fan of card games or reading the newspaper. I never, ever drink pop. I’m big into being GREEN.

Favourite thing about Teach Exec: These girls are amazing. You can honestly talk to any one of them about absolutely anything. So fly, too.

Hometown: Toronto!

Favourite First Year Course: DEVS 100 but the ENGL 110 profs are my fave and the social history aspect/prof of HIST 124 blows my mind

Favourite thing about Teach Exec: That they care so much about making frosh week and the rest of the year the best experience for you!

Words of wisdom for the Frosh of 2014: I know when I was reading the teach bios last year I was really nervous about coming to con-ed. Everyone was filled with so much spirit and I just felt like a shy little froshie. Despite being shy and nervous I had a wonderful time during frosh week and first year. I would never have imagined that I would go from being a shy, nervous, awkward froshie to becoming a teach!  Even though it’s cliché, my words of wisdom is to be yourself! Con-ed welcomes everyone! Also, university is all about learning who “yourself” exactly is so get involved! Though all the raving of con-ed awesomeness in the teach bios last year it intimidated me at first (as it might you)…it’s totally true. We’re amazing.

Favourite thing about Con-Ed: I love everything about con-ed! In fact, I declare this at least once a day – much to the chagrin of my friends from other faculties (who secretly know that it’s better in b.ed)! I like that because we are such a small faculty everyone knows and loves each other.

Personal spotlight: I thought I would be going to U of T, even to the point where I accepted their offer at a teaching program there (though not as good as con-ed). But when I got into Queen’s con-ed, I hesitantly changed my acceptance only to be filled with relief and no regrets whatsoever upon my arrival! I honestly do not think I could have had a better experience anywhere else! I really love music (mostly indie – especially Canadian bands; oldies – anything from the 30s-60s), attending concerts, fashion, and vintage shopping.
