President’s Umbrella

Executive Administrator

Jason Liu

The Executive Administrator is first and foremost the impartial member of CESA Council. The first major duty of the Executive Administrator is to serve as the chair of CESA Council meetings, ensuring the agenda is complete and distributed in a timely fashion to members of Council and members of the Association at large, and ensuring all rules and all members are respected during the meeting proceedings.  The second major duty of the Executive Administrator is to run and oversee all Association elections, including first year elections in September and the regular elections in the winter term. The Executive Administrator also serves as the guardian of the Constitution, ensuring the Association is abiding by its rules and proceeding in a manner consistent with the purpose and mission statement. The Executive Administrator is a confidential source for all members of the Association, acting as the mediator in any dispute between members.

Senator

Trevor Lin

The Senator is the student representative for the Faculty of Education on the University Senate, the highest academic authority at Queen’s. The Senator is involved in academic policy-making at the highest levels of the University, working closely with other students, faculty, staff and the administration. The Senator attends all monthly Senate meetings, and serves on at least one Senate Committee. The Senator reports on the progress of Senate to CESA Council, and to the Association at large.

Treasurer

Jenny Goodwin

The Treasurer deals with all of the financial matters of the Association, in order to ensure an appropriate and balanced budget and accurate financial record keeping. The Treasurer works closely with all members of Council to ensure that events and initiatives are financially accessible to members and financially responsible to the Association. Sitting on the Bursary Committee allows the Treasurer to take part in a process that benefits our Con-Ed community by providing financial accessibility to CESA’s events and activities.

Communications Director

Vanessa Powell Cavell

A new position to CESA Council, the Communications Director is responsible for getting the message of the Association out to all members and relevant external organizations. In conjunction with the Executive, the Communications Director develops a communications plan to ensure that the Association is able to maximize its outreach to members through any number of communication methods. The Communications Director is responsible for advertizing Association events and initiatives, and ensuring consise, complete and accurate information is being disseminated to all members of the Association. The online events calendar, as well as its counterpart in the Con-Ed Office, is kept regularly updated and organized by the Communications Director.

CESA Representative to the AMS

Catherine Lee & Laura Skellet

The Alma Mater Society Assembly is composed of representatives from all faculties and organizations apart of the Alma Mater Society (AMS). It is the role of the CESA Representative to the AMS to be informed on current issues being brought forth to AMS Assembly as well as to best represent the students of Concurrent Education on the issues. The role entitles the Representative to a vote on  AMS Assembly ensuring a very important impact not only on Concurrent Education students, but on all Queen’s students as a whole. It is also the duty of the CESA Representative to the AMS  to relay important issues and information back to the students of Concurrent Education.

Academic Affairs Commissioners

While sometimes unknown and often behind the scenes, the Academic Affairs Commissioners are an integral part of the Concurrent Education program. The Academic Affairs Commissioners work hard to ensure that program quality is always under review, that student input is sought and that there is a constant dialogue between the student voice and the administration. The Academic Affairs Commissioners are always available for academic inquiries relating to the Con-Ed Program, including but not limited to matters concerning requirements for successful completion of teachables. They, along with representatives from other faculties come together in the AMS’s Academics Caucus for the betterment of the individual faculties and the AMS. At the end of the day, Queen’s University is an educational institution and the Academic Affairs Commissioners are here to help foster a greater learning experience for all Con-Ed students.

 

 

Web Master

Jody Patterson

The Web Master is the member of Council responsible for the design and maintenance of the website. The Web Master creates pages on the website to serve the different needs of the Association, and posts frequent updates to the home page to keep Con-Ed students up to date on all the latest from CESA. The Web  Master is responsible for updating the information on the website using information provided by the Executive, the Communications Director, and all other members of Council. The Web Master is an integral part of CESA’s media team.

B.Ed Spread Editors

The Newsletter Editors publish a four-issue newsletter,distributed throughout the fall and winter semesters.  The B.edspread provides another form of communication; a link and opportunity for students to be connected with other students and CESA Council.  The B.edspread is available to anyone in the Con-Ed Office and on the CESA website. Everyone is encouraged to submit their articles to the Newsletter Editors to be included in the next edition!

ESS Representative to CESA

Mike Higginson

The Education Students’ Association (ESS) Representative serves as the link between Con-Ed students in Years 1-4 and final year Con-Ed students finishing their Bachelor of Education. Sitting on both the ESS and CESA Councils, the Representative ensures both Councils are updated on the news, events and other important things happening at the other Council. In addition to this role, the ESS Representative organizes an information session about final year for fourth year students every January and is available throughout the year to respond to questions regarding final year from any Con-Ed student (e.g., questions about practicums, program format, housing, etc.). If you have any questions, be sure to send them to your ESS Representative.
