Internal Umbrella

Social Affairs Commissioners

Courtney Blake & Lindsey McCulloch

The Social Affairs Commissioners ensure that the energy from Con-Ed Frosh Week is carried on throughout the year, by giving Con-Ed students opportunities to get together outside of PROF class! The Commissioners plan the semi-annual Back to School Smokers in September and January, bringing all students in all years together after a summer or winter break away. Of course, the largest undertaking is the annual Con-Ed Formal in March, taking all year to plan organize the marquee event on CESA’s calendar. This year, the Social Affairs Commissioners are looking to bring brand new social events to the fold. The Commissioners are looking for members of Con-Ed to join them in planning these amazing events through the newly created Social Committee.

Fundraisers

Allison Bone & Meghan Froebelius

Since CESA is a small student society almost entirely funded by student fees, additional sources of income are required to operate the many programs and events the Association has to offer. The Fundraisers are in charge of raising money for the Association through alternative means. The first fundraiser is the Frosh Week Sidewalk Sale, where the Fundraisers sell Con-Ed merchandise like t-shirts, travel mugs and pins. Throughout the year, the Fundraisers run bake sales and other fundraisers to make money. This year, the fundraisers are eager to explore non-traditional fundraising options to ensure the Association’s programs can continue to operate smoothly and efficiently.

Athletic Sticks

Shayne Sharkey, Emmaline Houston & Gladys Kong

The Athletic Sticks are responsible for running CESA’s sports and recreation program. The first responsibility of the Sticks is to get members of Con-Ed to sign up and play for CESA-sponsored Con-Ed intramural teams, choosing captains for these teams, and ensuring payment of all intramural fees and bonds. Every year, the Sticks put together Con-Ed’s team entry into the annual BEWIC Sports Days tournament in January. Last year, Con-Ed took home top prize in the tournament for the second time in a row! The Sticks will be working hard this year to ensure a repeat victory!

1st Year Representatives

Mike Young & Sean McCabe

The First Year Representatives act as a liaison between CESA Council and first year students. It is the Representatives’ role to ensure that their year is informed about upcoming events and what is happening on CESA Council. The Representatives s should organize at least one event per semester to bring first years together in a social setting. In the past some events have been: Halloween Dinner, Frolic in the Flakes with your First Year Friends, and Movie Night. The First Year Representatives are also CESA’s photomasters, charged with taking as many photos of Con-Eddies at CESA’s events for the slideshow at Formal and to post on the website!

2nd Year Representatives

Dana Jones & Mike Till

The Second Year Representatives are responsible for updating their year on Con-Ed events and other information related to CESA Council Meeting or CESA in general.  At meetings, they act as the voice for their year. It is also their responsibility to plan year events that allow everyone to keep in touch. Finally, as of 2008, the Representatives have had the responsibility of planning the Buddy Program. This includes pairing first years with appropriate buddies, planning and hosting the Buddy Picnic at the end of Frosh Week and hosting Buddy Events throughout the year.

3rd Year Representatives

Jillian Lemmen & Molly Russell

Third Year Representatives are responsible for communicating important Con-Ed information to students in 3rd year Concurrent Education.  By sitting on CESA Council, the Representatives are the voice for the students in third year.  If members of third year would like to have information related to CESA Council, the Representatives would also be the people to approach.  The Year Representatives are responsible for organizing social events through the year for 3rd year students. As well, starting this year, the Third Year Representatives are responsible for organizing the can food drive.

4th Year Representatives

Deborah Treftlin & Tiffany Kwong

The 4th year Representatives are responsible for advocating the interests of 4th year students to CESA Council.  The two individuals that share this position act to keep 4th year students informed of issues and relevant information discussed at CESA Council meetings as well as to serve as a voice for 4th year students.  Additionally, these individuals are responsible for organizing Con-Ed clothing orders.

Music Representative

Brooke Buchanan

The Music Representative is responsible for keeping students in the Concurrent Education Music program informed about both Con-Ed events, as well as Music events. The Music Representative sends out frequent emails to the Con-Ed Music students updating them about events and news from Con-Ed, as well as keeping a Concurrent Education board posted in the music building, Harrison Le-Caine. The Music Rep encourages students to attend social and educational events in both programs, such as Queen’s Conference on Education, Ontario Music Educator’s Association Conference, Formals, BEWIC Sports Days, Concerts, and Coffee Houses. He/she also runs social activities just for Con-Ed Music students to encourage bonding and make them feel that they are still very important to Con-Ed even though they’re the smallest program! Con-Ed Music sweaters have also been designed, organized, and sold in the past. In addition, Con-Ed is informed about Music events and concerts in an effort to have them understand and support the Music program. The Music Representative is always open to comments and concerns about the Con-Ed Music program and designs a survey at the end of the year to get feedback from students about the program.
